The Residential Care Home built by the Community... Celebrating 40 years! |
Accommodation There are 30 single rooms, 10 of which are en-suites and all are fitted with wash-hand basins. There are three lounges, 2 of which have televisions, and there is full central heating throughout the Home. A visitor's room is available where residents can entertain guests in complete privacy. There is also a pleasant south-facing patio and attractive flower garden that is much enjoyed by residents during summer months. Staff Our experienced staff are on hand and able to assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and all activities of daily life, always providing a warm, caring and very friendly atmosphere. Continuity of care is assured day and night, including the supervision and administration of prescribed medication. Dining Arrangements Food is a priority at Vaughan Lee House. Our meals are prepared using locally sourced fresh ingredients and there is always choice on the menu. Special diets can be catered for and personal preference is taken into consideration. Whilst meals can be served in residents' rooms, dining is a very sociable occasion and we encourage our residents to enjoy their meals in the communal dining rooms. Relatives and friends are welcome to join residents for any meal with prior arrangement but are always welcomed to visit for tea or coffee at any time. Please see the enclosed sample menus. Services Local GP's within close proximity offer excellent support as do the District Nurses and our local Pharmacy. A Chiropodist visits at regular intervals and individual arrangements can be made for treatment by Dentists and Opticians. A qualified hairdresser visits the Home twice weekly. Social Life The Home is very much a part of the local Ilminster Community and is generously supported by many groups and organisations who also visit the Home from time to time. A Church of England Communion Service is held regularly at Vaughan Lee House and a Methodist Service is held quarterly. Ministers of other denominations are always welcomed. The Head of Home and Staff endeavour to make Vaughan Lee House as much like home as possible and they are always pleased to chat with residents and to give help on any matters when advice is sought. They encourage residents to live as full a life as they are able and to go out as and when they wish. Friends and relatives are always welcome. The Friends of Vaughan Lee House arrange outings and regularly visit the Home to serve coffee and tea and to talk with residents. Activities Weekly Activities are scheduled every morning at 10:00am.

Day Care To leave one's own home is a major step to take and the Home provides Day Care, partly to relieve the loneliness of living alone and partly to give people an opportunity to find out about life at Vaughan Lee House. A complimentary day is always offered to any prospective resident. Day Care visitors are welcome to arrive from 10 o'clock onwards. The meals provided are mid-morning coffee, lunch, a cup of tea in the afternoon followed by high tea at 5:30. Respite Care Short term residency is nearly always available to provide families and carers with relief for holidays, etc. Every effort is always made to accommodate temporary residents at times to suit their requirements. Enquiries Enquiries with regard to all types of care are welcomed at all times and the Head of Home will be pleased to discuss and assist with individual requirements. The very reasonable fees are in line with those quoted by the Somerset County Council and they include full board, heating, lighting and laundry. |
All rooms are complete with a fitted call system together with provision for a personal television. Where appropriate, residents may bring their own furniture and also have their own individual telephone installed.
